Bio

Sharon Shen is an M.A. candidate in East Asian Studies at Stanford University. She is supervised by and research assistant to Professor Scott Rozelle at Stanford Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI).


She holds a Bachelor degree in History with First-Class Honours from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences (LSE). Her research interest primarily concerns the rural-urban divide in China, while she pays particular attention to such topics as rural education, digital economy, and women empowerment.

She regards herself as a global citizen and is passionate about promoting more just, equitable and representative future. She seeks to do so by committing herself to action-driven projects such as design challenges, social entrepreneurship, and panel organization. She especially looks forward to applying design thinking to the social sector. 

The greatest passion of her life comes from music and travel.
